Marcel Deiss Grasberg 1er Cru White 2009
With a shimmering colour, this 2009 Grasberg offers a bouquet of aromas of pink grapefruit, pineapple, blood orange and mint with a tropical undertone. On the palate it is silky, full and dense with a magnificent length and mineral notes due to the nature of the terroir which forces the vines to dig deep into the soil.
It is in Bergheim, a small town nestled in the heart of wine-growing Alsace, 3 km from Ribeauvillé, that Domaine Marcel Deiss is located. Today managed by Jean-Michel Deiss, the Domaine cultivates 27 hectares of vines spread over 9 communes and about 20 km of Côte Viticole. The vineyard is managed using the ancient techniques of the Alsatian winemaking tradition such as complantation (the mixing of several varieties of grapes within the same plot), ploughing, digging, composting or grassing, all without weeding or chemical fertilizer.
