Despagne-Rapin Eleanor Bordeaux Vin de France Red 2019
This Eleanor 2019 cuvée is a Bordeaux red wine produced by Nicolas Despagne, made from 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc and offered as a Vin de France. Produced organically and biodynamically, it is a Bordeaux wine produced without inputs.
It is a very fruity wine, dominated by red fruits (cherry, strawberry, redcurrant), with a very nice freshness. It is perfect for barbecued grills or Caesar salads and can be enjoyed slightly chilled between 12 and 14°C, preferably with a carafe. It can be kept in the cellar until about 2025.
"Eleanor of Guyenne" is the name by which the English knew Duchess Eleanor before she became their sovereign and the "French Claret" flooded their taverns. The light red wine in this bottle is an heir to it and is made from a blend, so it is not a Claret from a bleeding. It has not undergone any technological or thermal treatment, filtering or fining, or the addition of yeast or various substances other than a very low dose of sulphites.
