Facing east, this terroir of pink granite, rich in iron oxide, copper and manganese, is exceptionally sandy and atypical for a great terroir of the appellation. On tasting, Croix des Vérillats offers an intense garnet colour, a deep nose of black fruits out of the standards of the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. The palate is supple and full-bodied, with a delicious smoothness well balanced by the freshness of the fruit and spices.

Croix des Vérillats is the result of a strict plot selection in the locality called "Les Vérillats". Thanks to its sandy soil, its east-facing exposure and its specific ageing, it produces a beguiling wine, silky tannins, and a deep and soft substance.

In 1862, at the age of 99, Philiberte Pommier saw her action crowned by the classification of her wines of the 1854, 1858 and 1859 vintages in first place among the wines of the Mâconnais at the Universal Exhibition in London in 1862.
