This Château Beychevelle 2014 is a 4th Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien, a concentrated wine, with a majority of Merlot (51%) in this vintage complemented by 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. On the nose, it offers powerful aromas of black fruits (blackberries) and spicy notes, and on the palate, the substance is dense but very well balanced.

It is offered here in a 12-litre Balthazar, a very large and superb bottle to offer or enjoy after a few years of patience. It can be kept in the cellar until 2035-2040.

In Saint-Julien and throughout the Médoc, the 2014 vintage was marked by a wet winter and spring that slowed down flowering. The summer was mixed, cool in June, hot in July, cool again in August and sunshine and heat returned in September and October to allow the grapes to ripen well.
