Clos Rougeard Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux 2014 Magnum
The 2014 Poyeux is one of the mythical cuvées of Clos Rougeard, a great red wine from the Loire Valley in the Saumur-Champigny appellation, made from 100% of the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The Poyeux plot extends over barely 3 hectares of rather sandy soils and gives very fine wines of a beautiful freshness.
The nose is immediately captivating, with very fine notes of red fruits, undergrowth, pepper and mint enhanced by a few floral touches. On the palate, the texture is extremely silky, the tannins very supple and the finish straight and persistent. A wine with a very long ageing time that you can certainly start tasting but which will give its full potential by 2025 and that can be kept until 2035-2038.
