MOURVEDRE

Mourvèdre is a grape variety of Spanish origin and whose planted area represents about 70000 ha worldwide. It is mainly found in Spain (75% of the planted area) where it is called Monastrell and in France as well as a little in Australia, the United States and South Africa. The Mourvèdre grape variety is mainly used in blends with other grape varieties, bringing to the wines at the same time colour, tannic structure and aromas of black fruits and spices. Some wines from the Mourvèdre grape variety: Jumila, Alicante (Spain), Bandol, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (France).
