CORVINA

The Corvina Veronese or Corvina grape variety is a red grape variety from northern Italy that extends over about 5000 hectares, mainly in Veneto and Lombardy.

It is the main grape variety in the wines of the Valpolicella appellation and its thick skin allows the raisining or appassimento, i.e. the drying of the grapes after the harvest, to give the wines of the Valpolicella Ripasso and Amarone della Valpolicella denominations. Corvina Veronese is usually blended with the Rondinella, Corvinone and Molinara grape varieties in Valpolicella wines.

It is also used as an adjunct grape variety in the wines of the Bardolino, Colli di Parma and San Colombano al Lambro appellations.
