Domaine Jacques Prieur is a Burgundy wine estate established in Meursault since the 19th century, which extends over 21 hectares, half of which is red and white, both in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, with the prestigious appellations of Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Echezeaux, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Montrachet and three Clos Monopoles with the emblematic Volnay Clos des Santenots, Beaune Clos de la Féguine and Meursault Clos de Mazeray.
The history of Domaine Jacques Prieur dates back to 1868 with the union of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau, sons and daughters of winegrowers in Bligny and Meursault, and the foundation of Maison Duvergey-Taboureau. In 1879, Claude Duvergey acquired the Herbeux vineyard in Meursault at a terrible time for the vine with the arrival of phylloxera in Burgundy, fortunately saved a few years later with the arrival of new plants from the United States. Vineyards were then acquired one after the other with the Clos de Mazeray Monopole in Meursault, plots of Volnay Santenots, Clos Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny, Puligny-Montrachet, Montrachet. At the end of the 19th century, the marriage of Hélène Taboureau, niece of Marie and Henri Prieur from Beaune, marked the continued development of the estate and on his death in 1920, Claude Duvergey donated it to Jacques Prieur who gave his name to the estate in 1956. In 1988, five major families joined forces to avoid the sale and division of the estate, including the Labruyère family, who are now at the head of the estate, supported by the heirs of the Prieur family.
Edouard Labruyère has been running the estate since 2008, assisted by Nadine Gublin, the estate's oenologist since 1990, Martin Prieur, Jacques Prieur's grandson, in charge of wine marketing, and Daniel Godefroy, vineyard manager since 1997.
For many years, the Domaine has adopted a sustainable cultivation approach for the management of its vines with a drastic reduction in inputs and the purely mechanical tillage of the soil without chemical intervention.
