Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Derriere la Grange 1996
This wine is part of the Bellenum Collection which was created by the owner of Domaine Roche de Bellène, Nicolas Potel. It is a selection made over more than 10 years, tasting more than 2500 wines.
This 1996 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Derrière La Grange offers a pretty light purple colour and on the nose, subtle touches of stewed red berries evolving towards fine animal and spicy notes. On the palate the attack is very supple with delicately melted tannins and aromas of ripe plum and dry mushroom. The finish is persistent with a slightly peppery touch.
1996 is a great vintage with concentrated and balanced wines. After a period of rain, the north wind dried out the vines and ensured a perfectly healthy harvest. The month of September was sunny with warm days and cool nights, giving the fruit ripeness and concentration while preserving acidity. It is one of the best vintages of the last 25 years for Burgundy red wines with 1990 and 2005.
