Maison Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru 2004
This Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru 2004 is a great white wine from Burgundy and undoubtedly one of its most glorious representatives. The vineyard of Montrachet is located in the communes of Puligny and Chassagne, the vines are planted on clay-limestone and stony soils, well drained and which heat up easily. This 2.06-hectare vineyard, the largest in the Grand Cru, has been in the hands of the Laguiche family since 1776 and Maison Joseph Drouhin has been at their side to run the estate, vinify and age this exceptional wine for more than sixty years.
In this 2004 vintage, this Montrachet has a superb golden colour and a floral and fruity nose of great purity and precision, with notes of lily of the valley, vine flower, peach blossom, exotic fruits, honey, toasted almonds. On the palate, the overall expression is dominated by a harmonious roundness, perfectly balanced by the acidity that gives it a lot of freshness. The finish is very long.
It can be kept in the cellar until about 2033-2035. It is the ideal accompaniment to pan-fried foie gras, Thermidor lobster, sweetbreads or Bresse poultry with morels.
