Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2013
This 2013 Cornas from Domaine Auguste Clape is made from 100% Syrah, on terraced granite soils.
It offers a very greedy nose, with notes of black fruit, blackberry and blackcurrant, white pepper, with smoky, animal and vegetal notes. On the palate, the substance is massive, dense, concentrated with an acidity that balances the whole well, well-integrated tannins and a beautiful freshness that can be found in the long finish.
The wines of Cornas and Auguste Clape in particular require patience: here is a great Rhône wine that one had to wait ten years to start tasting and that can be kept in the cellar for another fifteen years or so. It will ideally accompany veal, beef, duck, veal Osso bucco for example.
