The structure of this exceptional wine, offered here in Magnum, wonderfully combines power, character and finesse. In its youth, Hermitage la Chapelle is distinguished by a dark colour and aromas of incredible intensity, slightly woody, with notes of spices and very ripe wild fruits. This incredibly concentrated wine needs to be kept for a minimum of ten years to develop the breadth of its aromas. It then develops aromas of liquorice, candied fruit, mushrooms, leather and undergrowth. Its tannins are silky and melted and the wine has a nice graininess on the palate. Its imposing structure is the perfect combination of power, character and finesse.

With its phenomenal longevity, the Hermitage la Chapelle de Jaboulet is unabashedly equal to the best red wines of Bordeaux or Burgundy. The grapes are harvested as late as possible. After a very long vatting period, 25 days on average, the wine is aged in barrels, with 25% new wood, for a period ranging from 12 to 16 months.

The name of the Hermitage La Chapelle is linked to the small chapel of Saint-Christophe overlooking the terraced vineyard overlooking the Rhône. It is one of the best wines in the world. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been the sole owner of La Chapelle since 1919. The diversity of the terroirs and localities gives the wine a special identity thanks to the blending of the different plots.
