Chateau Carbonnieux Pessac-Leognan Grand Cru Classe de Graves White 2011
At the tasting, this white Château Carbonnieux Cru Classé de Graves 2011 offers a very light colour with green reflections. The nose is expressive and of great aromatic intensity (vegetal and fruity aromas). On the palate, it is lively and nervous.
The white vineyard of Château Carbonnieux is located on the clay-limestone slopes of the famous Garonne gravel hilltop. It is on these rare and sought-after terroirs that the best white wines are produced, the typicity of which has been recognized for centuries. When young, the whites of Carbonnieux charm with their freshness, purity and aromatic intensity, both fruity and floral. As they age, they develop notes of dried and candied fruit that offer a wide range of gastronomic pairings. Already very pleasant, this bottle will reach its peak in a few years.
For the record, the white wines of Carbonnieux, limpid and not very colourful, entered the palace of an Ottoman sultan by trickery. One of his favourites, captured by pirates, then offered to Abdülhamid I, became his first sultana and passed them off as a rare and invigorating water: "The mineral water of Carbonnieux".
