Château Calon-Ségur is a great wine from Saint-Estèphe, 3rd Grand Cru Classé. The 1970 vintage, which was very well received when it was released, offers its best results in Bordeaux where the great wines of Pomerol, Graves and Médoc are still highly sought after.

Château Calon Ségur is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, its history dating back to Gallo-Roman times. The name Calon is taken from "Calones", a term designating cargo ships on the Gironde, and that of Ségur comes from the Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, owner of the Château in the 18th century as well as the castles Latour, Lafite and Mouton. Château Calon Ségur is now 55 hectares of vines in one piece and enclosed by walls, with Cabernet Sauvignon constituting more than 50% of the grape varieties.
