Chateau Rieussec 1er Grand Cru Classe Sauternes 1982

Château Rieussec 1982 is a 1er Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes, a great sweet white wine from the Bordeaux vineyards.

This 1982 vintage is known to be an exceptional vintage for Bordeaux red wines in general, but it is less successful for the sweet white wines of Sauternes and Barsac.  After a very good summer and sufficient humidity in September for the development of botrytis, very heavy rains drowned the vineyard in October and destroyed the grey rot.  It was therefore only a small part of the grapes harvested before the rains that were able to offer a satisfactory level of quality.

Château Rieussec 1982 is nevertheless a great Sauternes wine that offers a beautiful aromatic richness in this vintage.
