Occidental Freestone Pinot Noir Sonoma Valley USA Red 2019
This 2019 Pinot Noir has been produced by Occidental in California's Sonoma Valley since 2011, a vineyard located in the Freestone region, on small hills close to the Pacific Ocean. The vines were planted in the early 2000s by Steve Kistler, a visionary winemaker who saw it as a superb terroir for Pinot Noirs when few were interested in it at the time.
This wine comes from a parcel selection from the vineyards of Running Fence, Bodega Ridge and Bodega Headlands. It offers a ruby colour with purplish reflections and a very pure nose with aromas of cranberry, floral notes (dried rose, lavender), mint and orange zest. On the palate, the substance is fine and elegant, dominated by small, crisp reds, with a very long, slightly saline airy finish.
