It was in 1998 that Dominique Auroy created the Domaine Ampélidaceae on the atoll of Rangiroa in the Tuamotu archipelago, 350 km from Papeete. The vineyard is the result of rigorous and passionate research based on observation and adaptation to a protected and rare ecosystem: 7 small hectares of vines made from the Italia, Carignan and Muscat de Hamburg grape varieties that have adapted to this extreme environment to offer delicate and aromatic white and rosé wines.
The vines are planted 100 meters from the lagoon and less than 400 meters from the large ocean. in "franc de pied", without rootstock, according to the use in France and Europe before the arrival of phylloxera. The oenologist Sébastien Thépénier is in charge of the vineyard: low extraction rate at pressing, cold settling for 16 hours, fermentation with indigenous yeasts at low temperature, ageing for 3 to 4 months on fine lees.
Domaine Ampélidaceae is currently in organic conversion.
