Mas Amiel AOC Maury 40 ans d'âge

Le Mas Amiel is a Roussillon wine estate of 170 hectares of vines, located in Maury in the Pyrénées-Orientales and which produces dry white, rosé and red wines and natural and oxidative sweet red wines. Its history began in 1816 with the 10 hectares of the Domaine des Goudous that Raymond Etienne Amiel won on a gaming table.
Having become the Mas Amiel, the banker Charles Dupuy acquired it in 1907 and it remained in the family until the end of the 90s when it was taken over by Olivier Decelle. It was with him that the wines of Mas Amiel became known throughout the world and that dry red wines took off with, in 2011, the creation of the AOC Maury Sec.
Mas Amiel has 170 hectares planted with vines. For red wines, Grenache accounts for 70% of production, with the rest shared between Syrah and Carignan. The vines are between 25 and 94 years old and yields vary from 10 to 22 hl/ha depending on the grape varieties and vintages. Le Mas Amiel mainly produces wines in the Maury and Côtes du Roussillon appellations.
Maury's natural sweet red wines are particularly suitable for ageing. Find our catalogue of old vintages over the last 60 years and let us guide you to compose your box to offer as a birthday gift with the vintage of the year of birth of a loved one.
