Château Cazebonne is a wine estate that extends over 40 hectares in biodynamic agriculture, divided into six large plots around Saint-Pierre-de-Mons, near Langon south of Bordeaux, on very varied terroirs, sand and silt, deep gravel and clay-limestone soils. The soils are worked with compost and cover crops and the wines undergo only a minimum of interventions with natural yeasts, minimal doses of sulphur and little or no filtration.
Cazebonne is one of the oldest properties in the commune of Saint-Pierre de Mons, its history dating back to the very beginning of the 18th century. It was bought in 2016 by Jean-Baptiste Duquesne, an entrepreneur and wine enthusiast, who entrusted David Poutays, winemaker at Clos de Mounissens, with the task of managing the estate and leading the conversion to organic and biodynamic.
David Poutays also decided to replant old forgotten Bordeaux grape varieties, more than 25 to date, such as Ancin, Castets, Bouchalès, Saint-Macaire and Petit Péjac
