Château Rayas offers us here a great red wine from the Rhône Valley in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in the 2010 vintage. The red wines of Château Rayas are exclusively made from Grenache Noir. What also distinguishes Rayas are the poor and sandy soils, without pebble beds as elsewhere, the very low yields of around 18 to 20 hectolitres per hectare, the rigour of Emmanuel Reynaud in vinification and the long ageing of at least 20 months in old oak barrels.

This Château Rayas 2010 offers a sumptuous nose of mixed aromas of strawberry, cherry and fig, rose and dried flowers, sweet spices. On the palate, the overall expression is very silky with great amplitude and exceptional persistence. Of course, it can be enjoyed today, but it can be kept in the cellar until at least 2040.

It will be the perfect accompaniment to game, a deer fillet, a venison leg, a roast boar with pepper sauce, a roasted woodcock, a pheasant terrine or lamb tapenade.
