Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage La Chapelle Red 2006 Salmanazar - Original wooden case d'1 Salmanazar
The Hermitage La Chapelle is available in a 9-liter Salmanazar at La Bouteille Dorée in the 2006 vintage. This great wine offers a very dark garnet colour and a beautiful round and concentrated substance with aromas of small black fruits well present, supported by spicy, vanilla, mocha and leather notes, and powerful and silky tannins. Ideally, this wine would need to be left in the cellar for a few more years: it is awine for laying down for the next 50 years!
2006 is a vintage that met all the conditions for the production of a great Hermitage wine: a cold and dry winter, regular rains and mildness in the spring and a generally dry summer with cool nights in August allowed an excellent maturation of the grapes on each of the plots that go into the blending of this wine.
The grapes are harvested as late as possible. After a long vatting period, 25 days on average, the wine is aged in barrels, with 25% new wood, for a period ranging from 12 to 16 months.
The name of the Hermitage La Chapelle is linked to the small chapel of Saint-Christophe overlooking the terraced vineyard overlooking the Rhône. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been the sole owner of La Chapelle since 1919. The diversity of the terroirs and localities gives this wine a special identity thanks to the blending of the different plots.
