Domaine Michel Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Deschants Red 2009

Domaine Michel Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Deschants Red 2009

20.90 € Tax included

This 2009 Saint-Joseph Deschants from Domaine Michel Chapoutier comes from a Syrah vineyard located around Tournon, in the villages of Mauves, Saint-Jean de Muzols and Lemps. In the 19th century, this wine was known as Mauves wine and was enjoyed as far away as Russia at the table of the tsars.

It offers a beautiful intense garnet colour with a floral nose in its youth that evolves here, after almost 10 years of ageing, towards liquorice and truffle notes. The attack on the palate is supple, the finish is long and the whole is opulent and silky, marked by red fruits and spices.

2009 is an exceptional vintage for the wines of the northern Rhône Valley, with Syrah grapes in abundance and harvested perfectly healthy and ripe. The 2009 vintage is one of the best vintages of the last 50 years, along with 2003, 1999, 1990 and 1978.
