Laibach Vineyards' 2015 Ladybird is an organically grown red wine blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels. It offers a brilliant colour, a powerful nose of fruit and on the palate, notes of blackberries and raspberries, chocolate and leather and elegant tannins. It can be enjoyed now and stored for 5 to 7 years. No herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers have been used in the vineyard for 10 years and the vinification is natural.
The Laibach Vineyards estate was established in 1994 with a vineyard that has existed for over 175 years, and is located in Simonsberg near Stellenbosch, one of the best terroirs in South Africa. It now covers 37 hectares and is grown organically with yields limited to 35/40 h/ha.
