The colour is dense with beautiful autumn colours. The nose is spectacular: exotic fruits, citrus, acacia honey. On the palate, the freshness is impressive and the limestone acidity radiates the substance in this original and non-conformist monument that is the Altenberg.

Altenberg means "the consecrated place" in English. It is special in the sense that since 2005 and following a long battle, the Altenberg of Bergheim has had the right to claim the Grand Cru appellation even though the wine is made from several grape varieties.
It is in Bergheim, a small town nestled in the heart of wine-growing Alsace, 3 km from Ribeauvillé, that Domaine Marcel Deiss is located. Today managed by Jean-Michel Deiss and his son Mathieu, the Domaine cultivates 27 hectares of vines spread over 9 communes using the ancient techniques of the Alsatian winemaking tradition such as complantation (the mixture of several varieties of grapes within the same plot).
