This Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves "Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus" 1996 is a magnificent red wine from the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, produced by Maison Bouchard Père et Fils.

The name "Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus" refers to Marguerite of the Blessed Sacrament, a Carmelite foundress of the Servants of the Holy Family of the Child Jesus, who is said to have predicted the birth of King Louis XIV of France when his mother Anne of Austria was barren. At the birth of the future "Roi Soleil", this exceptional vineyard belonging to the Carmelites took the name of the Vineyard of the Child Jesus. In 1791, when the national assets were sold, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils acquired the plot, located in the heart of the 32 hectares of the Beaune-Grèves appellatio, and has owned it since then.
