Château Haut-Marbuzet is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Estèphe, classified as an Exceptional Cru Bourgeois in 2003. An exceptional terroir, a blend with a high presence of Merlot (40%) and traditional vinification and ageing give this wine a very particular silky texture with beautiful tannins and powerful aromas of red fruits and spices in its youth, as well as the ability to keep for a long time. It has long belonged to the Duboscq family.

1964 was a great vintage in Bordeaux, but with very different results depending on the date of the harvest and the appellations. The hot and dry summer smiled on the Merlot grape variety, an early grape variety whose harvest generally went very well, giving concentrated and powerful wines in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, in the Graves and the Médoc wines with a high proportion of Merlot such as Saint-Estèphe for example. On the other hand, the very rainy beginning of October penalised the Cabernet Sauvignon harvested later, which gave very contrasting results in the Médoc, with low harvests.

Find the wines of Château Haut-Marbuzet currently on sale at La Bouteille Dorée, with several old vintages available. Offer a bottle of 1964 with La Bouteille Dorée or more generally a wine from a vintage of the year of birth to celebrate a birthday.
