It is characteristic of the great Médoc châteaux to succeed in producing great wines when the climatic conditions are difficult and this was the case in the summer of 2011, rather rainy and cold in July and to a lesser extent in August. The Château Léoville-Poyferré team has worked with great precision on the soils, the harvest, the selection of the grapes, the vine and the vinification, with low yields, to manage to offer great concentrated Saint-Julien wines, with a very beautiful tannic structure.

This Château Léoville-Poyferré 2011 has a deep and dense colour, very deep. The nez is fine and complex with a very pure expression of the fruit and some notes of cedar. The palate is round and powerful with rich tannins and the finish is long with a magnificent tannic structure, fine and elegant. A wine that can be kept in the cellar for a few more years and offers excellent ageing potential.

Château Léoville-Poyferré was born in 1840 and was classified as a second grand cru in 1855. It has belonged to the Cuvelier family since 1920 and is now managed by Didier Cuvelier, as well as the other Château de Saint-Julien, Château Moulin Riche and Château Le Crock in Saint-Estèphe.
