2005 is an exceptional vintage for the great Saint-Julien that is Château Léoville-Poyferré. It offers a very deep colour with a powerful and complex nose, a lot of freshness and purity in the black fruit (blackcurrant, plum) with slight spicy and roasted notes. On the palate it is full, revealing fine tannins that are both elegant and powerful, with a particularly long aromatic persistence.

It was during the reign of Louis XIII, in 1638, that the Léoville estate was created thanks to Maître Jean de Moytié, a nobleman from Bordeaux and a councillor in the Parliament of Bordeaux. The estate was then made up of a vast vineyard planted on a gravel hill close to the river, which earned this place the name of "Mont-Moytié".

Château Léoville-Poyferré was born in 1840, was classified as a second grand cru in 1855 and has belonged to the Cuvelier family since 1920. It is now managed by Didier Cuvelier, like the other Saint-Julien of the family, Château Moulin Riche and Château Le Crock in Saint-Estèphe.

You can also find all the wines of the magnificent 2005 vintage currently on sale at La Bouteille Dorée.
