This Gran Reserva 2019 is a Chilean wine from the Viu Manent estate, made from vines of 98% of the Carménère grape variety complemented by 2% Tannat, planted in La Capilla, near Peralillo in the Colchagua Valley.

It offers a beautiful deep purple-red colour and a nose of ripe red fruits with a spicy character and light notes of toasted coffee. On the palate, it expresses itself with great amplitude, perfect balance and a supple and elegant texture, and a sapid finish. It will be the perfect accompaniment to rabbit with mustard, spicy curry or Latin American corn dishes. A wine to be enjoyed from now until 2026-2027 approximately.

The Carménère grape variety was known in Bordeaux for several centuries but the arrival of phylloxera in the 19th century wiped out the vineyard and today there are only a few dozen hectares in France. It was in Chile that we found in the 90s a few Carménère plants that allowed the development of the cultivation of this grape variety in Chile.
