This 2020 Volnay Clos des 60 Ouvrées is a great red wine from the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy from a monopoly plot of Domaine de La Pousse d'Or which extends over only 2.39 hectares, south-east of the village, on the edge of the commune of Meursault.
The Clos des 60 Ouvrées is planted with old vines on limestone marl and clay-limestone scree soils.
This 2020 vintage offers a nose with powerful aromas of blackberries, blueberries, sour cherries with subtle vegetal notes (hawthorn), liquorice and spices. The attack on the palate is clean and pure, followed by a full-bodied, suave substance of great elegance, and a finish with a very nice tangy freshness. It will be the perfect accompaniment to cooked poultry such as chicken stuffed with foie gras or roast goose.
