The history of Domaine Pascal Jolivet began in 1982 when Jacques Jolivet, a wine merchant, bought a small trading company in Pouilly-sur-Loire and entrusted it to his son Pascal. Pascal Jolivet then moved to Sancerre and made his first vintage in 1991 by practicing natural fermentations with indigenous yeasts, a real success crowned by the Wine Spectator, among others. He quickly established himself as one of the leading winemakers of the Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé appellations.
Over the next ten years, the estate developed with the purchase of 6 hectares in the vineyard in Bué en Sancerre (Le Chêne Marchand, le Grand Chemarin, etc.), 6.5 hectares in Tracy sur Loire in AOP Pouilly-Fumé, an estate in Touraine of 10 hectares to make a very high quality Sauvignon Blanc called Attitude and then other estates in Sancerre (Montagu, Vetois) with very beautiful plots such as Le Clos du Roy. Today, Domaine Pascal Jolivet covers 95 hectares in Sancerre and Pouilly and 15 hectares in Touraine.
Domaine Pasal Jolivet now produces wines from selections of plots (Les Caillottes, Terres Blanches, Clos du Roy, Chêne Marchand, Grand Chemarin, Bouffants and Roc) which all belong to the estate. He also produces two great unfiltered cuvées with "Sauvage" 100% limestone in Sancerre and "Indigène" 100% flint in Pouilly and a rare cuvée, "Exception", unfiltered and produced only in the great vintages, from a selection of the estate's finest grapes. Pascal Jolivet also makes some of his wines with purchased grapes such as the "Attitude" Sauvignon.
