1997 is a great vintage of the Cahors appellation and this 1997 Probus cuvée from Clos Triguedina is a superb wine with a dark, purplish colour and brilliant reflections. The nose offers aromas of black fruits with a subtle woodiness. The palate is complex, long, rich and balanced.

In the year 96 A.D., Emperor Domitian had the vines uprooted in favor of the cultivation of wheat. Thanks to another Emperor, Probus, in the year 280, the vine was replanted in Quercy and this is what this Probus cuvée reminds us.
Owned by the Baldès family since 1830, Clos Triguedina is one of the most beautiful estates in Cahors and one of the founders of the appellation. Its name "me trigo de dina" which means "I can't wait to dine" in Occitan was a very popular passage for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela who liked to eat there.

Jean-Luc Baldès is a very creative winemaker, whose recognized talent works in the elaboration of great red wines from the Malbec grape variety: New Black Wine, Probus, Clos Triguedina and the parcel cuvées are all exceptional wines, acclaimed in August 2014 by the Revue du Vin de France which makes Clos Triguedina the first estate of Cahors.
