The Grande Cuvée has been produced every year since 1843, the year of the creation of the Krug Champagne House, as a tribute to the dream of its founder Joseph Krug.

This Grande Cuvée 169th edition is an exceptional Champagne with a pale gold colour and fine lively bubbles. It expresses itself on the nose on floral aromas, ripe and candied citrus fruits with notes of marzipan and gingerbread. It offers a remarkable length in the mouth, with a very rich palette of aromatic notes: almond, hazelnut, nougat, citrus jelly, brioche and honey.

This great Champagne can accompany a wide variety of dishes, an aperitif with Pata Negra ham, oysters, grilled shrimps, slightly spiced Indian or Moroccan dishes, cheeses such as an old Comté or desserts such as a tarte Tatin or a cheesecake.

This 169th Edition of Krug Grande Cuvée has been made from more than 140 wines from 11 different years, mainly around the 2013 vintage, the youngest year, to 2000 the oldest.  After a harsh winter and a rainy and cool spring, the hot and sunny summer of 2013, although marked by hailstorms, offered a beautiful maturity to the grapes and gave generous and expressive wines. The Cellar Master sought to accentuate the fullness of the year and the beautiful aromatic elegance with different wines from plots of almost every year of the first decade of the millennium. Reserve wines from the House's extensive library account for 40% of the final blend and bring to this Grande Cuvée the breadth and roundness emblematic of each Krug Grande Cuvée Edition.

This Krug Grande Cuvée 169th Edition Champagne is offered here in its gift box. Find all the champagnes of the House of Krug currently on sale at La Bouteille Dorée and if you want to offer Champagne as a gift, also browse our selection of Champagne gift boxes.
