Created in 1876 for the Tsar of Russia Alexander II, the Cristal cuvée is the great prestige vat of the House of Louis Roederer. It is only madein the best years, when the maturity of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, respectively 40% and 60% of the blend, is perfect. Cristal is aged for 6 years in the cellar, rests for 8 months in the bottle after disgorging and is dosed in Brut at 8 grams of sugar per litre.

Cristal 2007 is the perfect example of the discreet power of the Cristal cuvée. In the 2007 vintage, there is more aromatic restraint on juicy white fruits (pear) and slightly acidic red fruits (redcurrant) with light notes of pastry and hazelnuts. The attack on the palate is concentrated and remains on the same aromatic palette with subtle smoky notes, while the velvety texture coats a very fresh structure, and gives a very nice impression of finesse and lightness.
